WIN uncoveredWomen Into the Network (WIN) is one of the leading women’s business networking initiatives based in the North East of England, UK. So if you’re a woman who is thinking of starting a business, building an existing business or want to make things happen in the workplace and the community, Women Into the Network can offer you support and advice and lead you in the right direction. Background to Women Into the NetworkSince 1999 Women Into the Network, based at Durham Business School in Durham University, have been helping to break down the barriers to women. We set out to make our enterprising women aware of the support available to them and the opportunities they were missing. Now a thriving women’s business networking organisation, with over 3000 members, we offer a wide range of services targeted to our members needs. Aims and ObjectivesThe main aim of Women Into the Network is to integrate women entrepreneurs, whether aspiring or existing, into new and existing networks. We understand the barriers to women when it comes to starting a business or growing an enterprise, and aim to help you overcome some of the hurdles, lobby on your behalf and raise the profile of our enterprising women. Meet the Women Into the Network TeamOur team are committed to the development of women’s enterprise and to our open and progressive network. The WIN Board is made up of 9 owner-managers, at the forefront of female entrepreneurship, who are driving Women Into the Network forward and building on our success. How Women Into the Network are FundedWomen Into the Network was initially set up within Durham University as a North East based women’s business networking initiative which aimed to facilitate the development of women’s enterprise throughout the region and which conducted a valuable signposting function. As a not-for-profit organisation, funding and sponsorship was, and still is, a vital ingredient to the project. In 2009 WIN became WIN Ltd, owned and managed by women entrepreneurs in the region, and will continue to work collaboratively with suport organisations and in particular Business Link, to ensure that appropriate business support can be accessed by women across the North East.
