...i would like to offer support to women in business

How can Women Into the Network help me ... I would like to offer support to women in business

Do you already work in the support sector and can offer advice to our members?  Are you a woman in business who wants to help others achieve their dream, help them grow or simply give some sound words of advice?  Could you act as a “buddy” for someone attending their first event?   There are many ways you can help to support other women – here are just a few:

If you would like to support women in business:

Be a WIN Facilitator

Do you want to take your networking one step further and help others to network effectively?  We are looking for members who want to practice their public speaking and facilitation skills, by attending a WIN networking event.  All that is required is for you to introduce yourself and the speaker and say a word of thanks, whilst ensuring that first-time networkers feel at ease.

A great chance to hone your chairing/facilitation skills, a chance to meet new contacts, great profile for your business and a free lunch!

WIN are putting together a database of networking event facilitators around the region & will be offering a half-day workshop to give you hints and tips on facilitation techniques & the art of good networking.  If you would like to be added to the WIN Facilitator list and contacted about the next workshop please email Women Into the Network now.

Be A WIN Speaker/Trainer

WIN host a number of networking events and workshops throughout the year and are approached by a number of organisations both regionally and nationally to run events in which they are skilled/knowledgeable.

The final schedule of events will depend primarily on the expectations and needs of our members.  However, a database of potential speakers and trainers is retained so we are able to refer to the skills available as and when the opportunity arises.

We are keen to use the vast range of skills of our experienced members and those from around the region, ensuring they receive increased profile and opportunities.

If you have an idea for an interesting, lively and thought-provoking event, please do get in touch, specifying what type of event you would like to hold and details of your experience.  Contact Lisa Vickers for more information on becoming a WIn speaker/trainer.

Be a WIN Role Model

Research has shown that role models play a crucial part in motivating and encouraging others to take risks and grow both personally and professionally.

That’s why WIN had the idea of producing “Northern Lights” a regional publication featuring a selection of women who have all done remarkable things, yet we can all relate to them.  It was such a success, we produced a second and a third version. Soon after followed the national role model publication “IF (Inspired Females) Only” & "Just for Starters" and a European version, “IF (Inspired Females) of Europe”.

We all gain from having role models in life.  They can guide us, encourage us and help us to grow, be they our mothers, neighbours, colleagues or a story in a magazine.

Perhaps you have a similar story to tell.  It doesn’t matter which background or sector you are from – we’ve featured beauty therapists to builders, who have tackled a whole host of challenges in order to establish themselves in business.

If you are interested in becoming a future role model and being featured in one of our publications go to How to become a Role Model and complete the downloadable form.

Tell your story & motivate others to start up in business!

Be a WIN Nominator

Launched in 2000, the North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are now one of the most popular and highly rated business awards competitions in the North East.

They are attended by over 500 people and receive over 250 nominations of an extremely high standard. However, we know there are many more talented women in the region.  Unfortunately women do find it hard to shout about their achievements or “blow their own trumpet”. Their achievements therefore go unnoticed and they aren’t recognised in the way they should be.

We want to recognise those women who have shown creativity, determination, dedication, courage and of course, entrepreneurial skills and talent.   We are looking at women who have made a difference and made their business a success!    If you know someone whom you think should be nominated for one of the Award categories whether it be for a brilliant idea or a social mission then contact the WIN office for a nomination form.   Blow someone else’s trumpet and give them the recognition they deserve.

You can find out more about the Awards and the categories on offer by going to Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.
