Title
Women Into the Network (WIN) achieves Flagship Status
The North-East’s pioneering women’s business network organisation, Women Into the Network (WIN) has been recognised as providing a “Flagship” level of support to women’s enterprise development by PROWESS, the national women’s enterprise support trade association. WIN was assessed against thirteen distinct standards of excellence designed to measure inclusion, equality, client focus and quality in the provision of support. In achieving the “Flagship” standard the organisation is one of only two in the UK recognised as achieving the highest possible levels in all these areas. The award (designed by WIN member, Annemarie Fitzsimmons-Keogh of Natural Interventions) was presented at the PROWESS National Conference in Brighton by Ann Crisp representing the sponsors NatWest. The objective of the standards is to help organisations identify, measure and improve their services to existing and potential women business owners. Speaking at the awards, Erika Watson, Executive Director of PROWESS said, “the UK government is now committed to helping more women to start and grow businesses. The Prowess Flagship Awards programme is contributing to that goal by raising standards in business support towards an environment where every woman in the country has access to business support that meets her needs. WIN has been through a rigorous assessment and we congratulate them on their achievement”. Women Into the Network (WIN) is facilitated by the University of Durham. The twin aims of WIN are to integrate women into existing and new business networks and to bridge the gap between the extensive provision of business and professional support available. Initially concentrated in the North-East region, WIN is now working in partnership with a number of leading agencies operating at the cutting edge of women’s enterprise development, spanning the English regions to form AWE (Accelerating Women’s Enterprise). Lisa Vickers of WIN said “ We are delighted to receive this award. WIN is going from success to success receiving awards both nationally and internationally” |
